The Whippets played their 2nd game of the season at home against the visiting Kenedy Cubs. It was a tremendous game that came down to the final seconds of the fourth quarter. The Whippets started off hot as the defense was flying all over the field making tackles and was led by Sergio Leal, Jasper Martin-Belk, Jaiden Soliz, and Michael Mireles. Overall, the defense came in clutch when it mattered the most and was able to stop the Kenedy Cubs from scoring on their last drive of the game. The offense was led by 8th grade Quarterback, Joseph Barrios who threw for 150 yards and tossed 3 touchdown passes to Sergio Leal, Gabriel Rodriguez, and Jasper Martin-Belk. The Whippets fought a tough opponent and gave it everything they had for all 4 quarters but came out with a tie 20-20. The Offensive MVP goes out to Joseph Barrios and the Defensive MVP goes to JJ Ozuna for his game saving tackle. Overall, the Whippets played a magnificent game and look forward to keeping the momentum rolling next week at home against district opponent, Hebbronville. Great job Whippets!
